Colliers Wood is a residential area located in south west London. It’s part of the London Borough of Merton and has a busy high street around its underground station on the Northern line. Colliers Wood shares its postcode district with Wimbledon, and merges into Merton Abbey.

Green Spaces

Colliers Wood has three three parks: Colliers Wood Recreation Ground, the National Trust-owned Wandle Park, and the more informal Wandle Meadow Nature Park

The Colliers Wood Recreation Ground is maintained by Merton Council and includes a football pitch, tennis courts, and children’s play centre. This is a popular outdoor space in the summer time due to its paddling pool.

Wandle Park is owned by the National Trust, and the original site of the old Merton Corn Mill. This open space also has a children’s play area, and large open space which is popular for dog walking.

The Wandle Meadow Nature Park is a nature reserve in Colliers Wood and contains a mixture of different habitats. You can find out more about these green spaces through the links below.

Transport Links

Colliers Wood benefits from excellent transport links, with a tube station on the Northern line providing easy access to central London. The area is also close to South Wimbledon station which is also on the Northern line, providing additional transport options.

A number of bus routes also pass through Colliers Wood including the 131, 152, 200, 219, 470, and 57, which provide access to Kingston, Mitcham, Clapham Junction, Epsom and Wimbledon.

Restaurants and Pubs

Colliers Wood offers a range of dining options, including the popular Istanbul Meze Mangal, which serves up delicious Mediterranean cuisine, and the Italian restaurant Corleone.

Shops

Colliers Wood has several supermarkets, including a large Sainsbury’s and a Marks & Spencer. The area is also home to the Tandem Centre, a retail park which has a range of major stores including TK Maxx, Boots, New Look and WHSmith.

Colliers Wood also merges into Merton Abbey, which has an arts and crafts market every weekend at Merton Abbey Mills.

  • The Wandle Trail is a popular walking and cycling trail that runs through Colliers Wood. It follows the River Wandle and takes you through some of the most scenic parts of the area.
  • Deen City Farm is a urban farm that teaches the local community about the rural environment and where their food comes from. They have volunteering programmes and a riding school.
  • Colour House Theatre host a variety of theatre shows, events, music gigs and comedy shows. The theatre has become a local favourite for their Children’s Theatre which produces musical adaptions of famous fairy tales.
  • Nuffield Health Centre in Colliers Wood is a modern gym and fitness centre that offers a range of classes and facilities. It has a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and a fully equipped gym. The centre also offers personal training and physiotherapy services.
  • Colliers Wood Library has a large collection of books, DVDs, and audiobooks that cater to all ages and interests. The library also offers free computer access and Wi-Fi, photocopying, and a range of newspapers, magazines and leaflets. It also as a Chinese and Tamil collection.

Schools

Colliers Wood has a number of schools catering to children of all ages. For primary education children can attend Singlegate Primary School, and All Saints C of E Primary School. Secondary schools include Harris Academy Merton, a high-performing school that provides a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities.


Accommodation

Colliers Wood offers a variety of accommodation options which are popular with families and young couples. There are several new developments in the area, offering modern flats and apartments, as well as Victorian and Edwardian homes with period features.

Colliers Wood Tower is a distinctive feature of the area, built in 1966, it is visually dominant. This tower was once named the ugliest building in London in a 2006 BBC poll, but has since been transformed into Britannia Point which contains 182 modern flats.
