Green Spaces in Tooting

Nestled between Balham, Streatham, and Tooting, Tooting Bec Common and Tooting Graveney Common form the picturesque expanse known as the Tooting Commons. The area was originally rural farmland, and is the remains of common land that once stretched as far as Mitcham.

Tooting Commons have tennis courts and an athletics track. There are also facilities for cricket, football, leisurely bike rides, and social gatherings at the delightful on-site café.

Tooting Bec Lido takes centre stage as the largest open-air swimming pool in the UK, inviting the public to swim from May to September.

Transport Links in Tooting

Tooting has excellent transport links with two tube stations that are both on the northern line: Tooting Broadway Station and Tooting Bec Tube Station.

As well as being close to an underground station, Tooting is also on a number of bus routes which connect the area to Kingston, Wimbledon, Richmond, Battersea and Mitcham.

Restaurants

Tooting has a thriving culinary scene, and is known for being one of the best places in London to get a curry. The stretch of Tooting High Street between the two tube stations has become known as curry corridor due to the number of great south Asian restaurants.

Our favourite curry houses at the moment are Lahore Karahi and Mirch Masala. We also love Vijaya Krishna on Mitcham Road who serve delicious curry! Tooting is also home to some great chicken shops, and an excellent Taiwnaese restaurant, Daddy Bao.

If you prefer street food, Tooting’s indoor markets, Broadway Market and Tooting Market have some great food stalls. One of our favourite spots is Boom Bap Burger in Tooting Market. Tooting also has some great pubs and buzzing bars. Our top recommendation is Craft Tooting in Broadway Market, which is a craft beer shop and bar.

Tooting market also has live music every Thursday.

Local Amenities

The area has a range of local amenities for its residents such as Tooting Leisure Centre, and Tooting Library.

Tooting Leisure Centre is a modern facility where you can enjoy swimming, gym workouts, and badminton. Tooting Library has a great community atmosphere, with a study space, books, DVDs, newspapers and free wifi.
