If you’re a coming to a match at AFC Wimbledon Stadium, you’ll probably want to grab a pint or something to eat before or after the game. To help you out, I’ve put together a list of the best pubs in the area. The list includes three pubs near AFC Wimbledon for home fans, and three pubs for away fans.
Best Pubs near AFC Wimbledon
I’ve been living in Earlsfield for almost ten years so I know the pubs in the area pretty well, including which ones do the best food! The first three in the list below are for home fans only, but the other three are open to all. You will find a map at the bottom of the page to help you find your chosen pub.
Home Fans
By the Horns
Plough Lane, London, SW17 0NR
For home supporters only on matchdays
By the Horns is the pub located within the grounds of AFC Wimbledon. It gets packed on matchdays but is a fun and lively environment. They serve a range of beers including three cask beers and eight keg beers, as well as around ten different canned and bottled beers.
The Corner Pin
10 Summerstown, London SW17 0AY
For home supporters only on matchdays
The Corner Pin pub is the closest pub to AFC Wimbledon, and open to home fans only on matchdays. It is a great little pub with a small garden out the back, and large TV screens showing the sport. They don’t serve food or hot drinks, but have reasonably priced beer, and don’t mind if you bring your own lunch.
Leather Bottle
538 Garratt Lane, London SW17 0NY
For home supporters only on matchdays
The Leather Bottle is one of the best pubs in Earlsfield, and only a ten minute walk from AFC Wimbledon stadium. It is a three hundred year old pub with traditional decor, and outdoor seating, and has one of the largest pub gardens in London.
The Leather Bottle serves a variety of real ales and craft beers, and has a reputation locally for its great Sunday roasts – check out the photograph below of the roast dinner we had there! My only criticism is they don’t cater well to people who have food intolerances.
Are you an AFC Wimbledon fan?
Why not take a tour of the stadium grounds?
The Wandle
332 Garratt Lane, London SW18 4EJ
Suitable for Away Fans
The Wandle is my second favourite pub in Earlsfield after the Leather Bottle. It is probably better than the Leather Bottle for live sports viewing as they regularly screen rugby and football matches.
This pub is located two minutes from Earlsfield train station, serves great food, and has a large seating area out the back. It also has a good selection of drinks, and a great atmosphere.
The Halfway House
521 Garratt Lane, London SW18 4SR
Suitable for Away Fans
The Halfway House is located directly opposite Earlsfield station. They serve traditional pub classics, like freshly battered fish and chips, as well as craft beers, cocktails, and a large wine selection. This is also one of the best spots in Earlsfield to get brunch.
Compared to the Leather Bottle and The Wandle, the Halfway House is less popular, and doesn’t have a big beer garden out the back. This might be a good option though if you want somewhere with a good wine selection, or a pub that serves brunch.
Please note: Door staff decide on the day whether they are open to both home and away fans. No jerseys are allowed.
The Earlsfield
511 Garratt Lane, London SW18 4SW
Suitable for Away Fans
The Earlsfield pub is connected to the train station, as it used to be the old ticket office in the late nineteenth century. Today you can still see into the station through glass panels in the wall, and can even eat your lunch under one of the old railway arches.
This is a really cosy little pub with great food. I put this one last in the list however as it does get quite crowded, and doesn’t have any outdoor space apart from a few tables in the street.

Hi Olivia
On matchdays, The Leather Bottle is home supporters only, enforced by security at the entrance. It is also worth booking a table because the pub is so busy before a game.
